The remaining hole 111 (also called Plessaer See ) is a residual open pit lake in the Brandenburg district of Elbe-Elster . The lake, about 900 meters long and 140 meters wide, is located in the former Plessa opencast mine in the Koyne-Plessa lignite mining area. The deepest point of the body of water, which is divided into three sub-basins, is 10.2 meters in the middle sub-basin and around 7 meters in the other two. Its area covers about 10 hectares.

The body of water is located north of the village of Plessa in the area of the former Plessa Heath . It was created when the remaining hole was filled with groundwater after the mine was closed in 1959, and is therefore affected by severe acidification of the water. This prompted scientists from the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research - UFZ to undertake a large-scale test here to improve the water quality of acidic mining lakes with biological means.
