Rethera amseli is a butterfly ( moth ) from the family of moth (Sphingidae).
features
The moths have a wingspan of 34 to 43 millimeters and are therefore slightly larger than the similar species Rethera brandti . Like this species, they have a lighter outer and inner edge on the forewings and a distinctive light-colored band that runs across the center of the wings. Rethera amseli clearly differs from Rethera brandti in the morphology of her genitals.
Occurrence and way of life
The species was discovered in 1958 in western Afghanistan near Herat at the same time as Rethera afghanistana . However, no other specimen has been found since then.
No information is available about the habitat. The species flies in one generation around mid-April. Nothing is known about the further way of life, as well as about the pre-imaginal stages and the parasitoids.
