Rethmann is the name of a German entrepreneurial family from Selm .

Norbert Rethmann joined his father's business in 1961 and took it over in 1962. The family's current holding company, Rethmann SE & Co. KG , includes Remondis , Rhenus Logistics and Saria Bio-Industries (carcass disposal and bioenergy). Martin Rethmann took over the chairmanship of the holding company from his father in 2009.
In 1994, Norbert Rethmann purchased land in Wamckow , a district of Kobrow , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Since 1999 he has also been the mayor of the Kobrow community. The Mecklenburgische Güterverwaltungs- und Dienstleistungsgesellschaft mbH and Co. KG manages 7,000 hectares of land and is owned equally by Norbert Rethmann's four sons.
In Kobrow, the family set up the Mecklenburg Carriage Museum , which opened on June 14, 2006.
The family's fortune is estimated at 6 billion euros.
