Reto Pavoni (born January 24, 1968 in Bülach ) is a former Swiss ice hockey goalkeeper and current coach .

Career

The trained bricklayer and 1.78 m tall and 77 kg heavy left catcher began his career at EHC Kloten ( Nationalliga A ), for which he played for 16 years and with which he won four championship titles (1993 to 1996). In 2002 he was looking for a new challenge and moved within the Swiss league to Genève-Servette HC . In total, he played around 900 games in the top division of Switzerland. In the 1997/98 season he completed two DEL games for the Landshut Cannibals . He also took part in the Spengler Cup three times .

Pavoni was one of the best goalkeepers on Swiss ice for years. He took part in twelve ice hockey world championships for the Swiss national ice hockey team (seven A and five B world championships up to 2000, as well as a qualification for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano) and the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville. He has a total of 199 internationals.

For the 2006/07 season he received a contract with the Krefeld Penguins until the next season. This was extended in February 2007 for a further year for the 2007/08 season. On January 31, 2008, his contract with the Krefeld Penguins was dissolved and he moved to the Swiss first division club Friborg-Gottéron . On April 8, 2008 it was announced that he would end his career and begin training as a site manager.

From 2009 to 2011 he was goalkeeping coach at EHC Bülach from the 1st league (third highest league in Switzerland). He has been the team's assistant coach since the 2011/12 season. On the 2013/14 season Pavoni returned to Kloten, where he took over the post of goalkeeping coach.
