Rettendon is a civil parish in the City of Chelmsford in Essex , England .
location
Rettendon is about 5 miles southeast of Chelmsford near the River Crouch and once belonged to the Bishop of Ely . The A130 used to go through the village. The place consists of the villages of Rettendon Village, Rettendon Common and Battlesbridge. Much of the area around Rettendon is used for agriculture.
Triple murder
On December 6, 1995, Rettendon was the scene of a triple murder. The three drug traffickers Patrick Tate, Tony Tucker and Craig Rolfe were shot dead in a Range Rover on an access road to a farm. The next morning they were found dead by farmer Peter Theobald and his friend Ken Jiggins. The drug traffickers were part of the Essex Boys, a criminal gang in Essex. The murder was filmed a total of three times: Gangsters - The Essex Boys (2000), Rise of the Footsoldier (2007) and Footsoldier 2 (2010) deal with the murders.
