Rewa ( Hindi : रेवा रियासत; also Rewah ) was a princely state in the Baghelkhand region of British India .
history
The Rajputs -State is the legend since 1140 and was the largest in Bundelkhand. It came under the rule of the Mughal Empire in 1658 and was a British protectorate from 1812 to 1947. Maharajah Ghulab Singh (1930-46) held the title Samrajya Maharajadhiraja Bandhresh Shri Maharaja .
In 1941 the country had an area of 33,669 km² and around 1.8 million inhabitants. On April 4, 1948, Rewa joined the Princely Union of Vindhya Pradesh and on January 1, 1950, it joined India . The Maharajah of Rewa Martand Singh was Rajpramukh (head of state) of Vindhya Pradesh in 1948/49 . On November 1, 1956, all princely states were dissolved and Vindhya Pradesh was incorporated into the state of Madhya Pradesh that had been established a few years earlier .
