Rhett James McLaughlin (born October 11, 1977 in Macon , Georgia ) and Charles Lincoln "Link" Neal III (born June 1, 1978 in Buies Creek , North Carolina ), together Rhett and Link , are two comedians, advertisers and filmmakers, respectively and musicians from the USA . There they have their own show on IFC (Independent Film Channel) called Rhett and Link: Commercial Kings . They are known for their songs and videos on YouTube; their videos have been viewed over 4 billion times. They have appeared on Lopez Tonight , Last Call with Carson Daly , Jay Leno , Jimmy Fallon and Conan and have been featured on NPR, as well as on CNN and Time magazine . They also run a daily talk show on YouTube called Good Mythical Morning , which already has more than 1,000 episodes and around 16 million subscribers, making it one of the most successful channels on the YouTube Internet platform (60th place on April 22, 2017).

Early years

Rhett and Link are from Buies Creek, North Carolina and say they have been best friends since they met on the first day of school at Buies Creek Elementary School after their teacher Miss Locklear put them in detention during recess for being on the desks had written. At the age of twelve they wrote their first screenplay entitled "Gutless Wonders". In high school, Rhett was on the basketball team, while Link participated in many science competitions. They were later roommates at North Carolina State University. They taught themselves filmmaking and are known for low budget do-it-yourself productions.

Internet & advertising

Rhett and Link operate four YouTube channels: Rhett and Link for music videos, skits, parodies, etc. (approx. 325 videos and 4.2 million subscribers), Good Mythical Morning for their daily morning talk show (with over 1000 episodes, more than 2.7 billion clicks and over 12 million subscribers one of the most popular talk shows on YouTube, weekdays only), Good Mythical MORE for further discussions, presentations and interviews (approx. 400 videos and 2.6 million subscribers) and an extra channel for behind-the-mind -Scenes and unedited videos (about 10 videos and 268 thousand subscribers).

In 2011, Rhett and Link advertised Ojai Valley Taxidermy by Chuck Testa. The advertisement was produced as part of their television show. Chuck Testa then posted this advertisement on his company's YouTube channel. On September 17, 2013, the video had already reached 14 million clicks.

Rhett and Links music videos such as the Facebook Song , the American Idol Song , the Epic Rap Battle , the SETI Song, and the T-Shirt War became very popular. In December 2010, the video was named 2 Guys 600 Pillows on Time's 2010 List of the Top Ten of Everything and won two 2011 Webby Awards. In February 2010, their Fast Food Folk Song won the Contest of Awesome for Best Comic Music Video of 2009. This competition earned them a trip to Los Angeles and an appearance on a Weezer music video.
