The Glandular rattle ( Rhinanthus rumelicus ) is a plant type from the genus rhinanthus ( Rhinanthus ) in the family of broomrape plants (Orobanchaceae).

description

The glandular rattle pot is a 15 to 60 cm high, semi-parasitic , annual plant . The stem is dashed in black.

The calyx is hairy glandular. The crown is colored yellow, the tooth on the upper lip is purple. The corolla-tube is closed and slightly curved upwards on the back. The bracts are evenly toothed and hairy glandular.

Occurrence

The species is particularly common in south-east Europe. It occurs in Albania, in the former Yugoslavia, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Greece and beyond in Transcaucasia. In Germany the species is only known from Thuringia near Jena . It grows on semi-arid grass and sparse pine stands. It prefers moderately dry, lime-rich and nutrient-poor clay soils.

Botanical history

The first specimen found in Germany was found in 1908 on the Napoleon Stone near Jena- Closewitz and initially described as a separate species, Alectorolophus aschersonianus . After that it was first placed in the vicinity of Rhinanthus rumelicus , but later also in the vicinity of Rhinanthus alectorolophus . Molecular biological studies showed, however, that the Thuringian specimen is close to the Southeast European Rhinanthus rumelicus . Since the discovery of the plant in Thuringia was relatively late for a floristically well-researched area, it is assumed that it was a recent introduction.
