Rhipsalis pachyptera is a species of plant in the genus Rhipsalis from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Rhipsalis pachyptera grows epiphytically or lithophytically with semi-upright to slightly hanging, richly branched shoots and reaches lengths of up to 1 meter. The dark green and later reddish flattened thick shoots are broadly elliptical to circular and have protruding veins. The edge is notched and gutted. The areoles are sparsely covered with wool.
The yellowish to white flowers appear in groups of up to three flowers on the side of the shoots. They are 15 millimeters long and have a diameter of 20 to 25 millimeters. The spherical to depressed spherical fruits are red.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Rhipsalis pachyptera is common in the Brazilian states of Rio de Janeiro , São Paulo , Paraná , Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul in the lowlands.
It was first described in 1837 by Ludwig Georg Karl Pfeiffer . A synonym is Rhipsalis agudoensis N.P. Taylor .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is called " Data Deficient (DD) ", i. H. with insufficient data.
