Rhythm Heritage was an American radio band .

Band history

Rhythm Heritage was founded in 1975 by music producer Steve Barri and keyboardist Michael Omartian , who had previously worked for Steely Dan and The Four Tops , among others . There were also bassist Scott Edwards and drummer Ed Greene. Some well-known musicians such as Victor Feldman and Ray Parker Jr. also played their instruments during studio recordings . The Single Theme From SWAT , the theme song of the television series The hard hitting five displaced on February 28, 1976 Paul Simon 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover from the top position of the Billboard Hot 100 . The band received a gold record for over a million units sold . In the same year, the theme song for the detective series Baretta was another success. The album also just reached the top 40. However, later releases were not granted commercial success, whereupon the band broke up. Omartian successfully switched to music production and later produced, among others, Christopher Cross , Rod Stewart and Donna Summer .
