Ri Pyong-sam is a North Korean politician of the Labor Party of Korea (PdAK) and Colonel General of the Korean People's Army , who is among other things a candidate for the Politburo of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PdAK and head of the Political Department of the Ministry of People's Security. As such, he directed the political training and party life of the members of the Ministry for People's Security and the People's Internal Security Forces.

Life

Ri Pyong-sam joined the North Korean Internal Security Service after attending school and has worked at the Ministry of National Security ever since. In April 1992 he was promoted to lieutenant general and in 1997 was a member of the burial committee at the funeral of Marshal Ch'oe Kwang , then Minister for the People's Defense Forces. In 1998 he was elected for the first time as a deputy of the Supreme People's Assembly and was promoted to colonel general on April 13, 1999.

Colonel-General Ri, who is the head of the Political Department of the Ministry of People's Security, has attended several meetings with officers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army , and has chaired some of these meetings. On October 23, 2002 he was one of Kim Jong-il's companions for the first time during his inspection visit to the People's Army Unit 507. In 2003 he was re-elected as a deputy of the Supreme People's Assembly and between 2009 and 2011 also participated in numerous troop and inspection visits by Kim Jong-il . il part.

Ri Pyong-sam, who was re-elected deputy of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly in 2009, was one of the members of the funeral committee at the funeral of Vice-Marshal Jo Myong-rok , who was most recently first vice-chairman of the National Defense Commission .

At the third party conference of the Labor Party of Korea on September 28, 2010 , he was elected a member of the Central Committee of the PdAK and on October 19, 2011 was awarded the medal of “Labor Hero” by the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly. He was last elected in April 2012 as a candidate for the Politburo of the Central Committee.
