Ribautiana tenerrima is a cicada of the subfamily of leaf cicadas (Typhlocybinae) within the suborder of round head cicadas (Cicadomorpha).
features
The pale whitish-yellow cicadas are 3–3.5 mm long. The cicada species differs from other species of the genus Ribautiana by the white oblique dividing lines between Corium and Clavius . The vertex is significantly narrower than the adjoining pronotum . There are three characteristic dark spots on each of the forewing ends.
distribution
Ribautiana tenerrima is widespread and common in Europe. The original distribution area probably extends over Europe and the west of Asia. The species was introduced in North America and New Zealand . In North America, it was first detected in British Columbia in 1947 . The species was first reported in New Zealand in 1964.
Way of life
The adults are observed from June to December. The host plants of Ribautiana tenerrima include various Rubus species such as blackberries , raspberries and boysenberries . Ribautiana tenerrima is a vector of phytoplasm and is considered to be a minor pest on berry crops.
