Ricarda Huch Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ricarda Huch Prize is a literary prize that has been awarded every three years by the City of Darmstadt in memory of the German writer Ricarda Huch since 1978. This award honors personalities "whose work is largely determined by independent thinking and courageous action" and who promote the "ideals of humanity and international understanding as values of the historical and cultural identity of European society" (according to the city's award criteria ). The award is endowed with 10,000 euros (as of 2018). Since the city of Darmstadt ran out of money, no prize could be awarded in the 2014 anniversary year. The amount has been donated by the Lions Club Darmstadt Mathildenhöhe since 2015.
