Ricardo Boettner

Ricardo Boettner (born December 26, 1901 in Asunción ; † August 15, 1982 ibid) was a Paraguayan chemist and scientist.

Career

Boettner came from a French-Paraguayan family. He was the son of Alfredo Boettner and Victoria Gautier. He received his education at the Colegio de San José in Asunción and at the grammar school in Rudolstadt . He completed his subsequent studies in 1920 with a diploma. In 1928 he completed his doctorate at the University of Munich.

After returning to Paraguay in 1929, he taught mineralogy, toxicology and organic chemistry at the Escuela de Farmacia. Later he was a lecturer at several natural science faculties. He was the first dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy and director of the Institute of Geology. From 1933 to 1954 he was head of the Oficina Química Municipal . In 1950 he was also appointed director of the Goethe School in Asunción.

He died of illness in 1982.

  • The Fundación Ricardo Boettner was founded in 1988 in memory of Boettner, who had always been committed to the poor, with the aim of providing access to health care.
