Ricardo Villar (born August 11, 1979 in São Paulo , Brazil ) is a former Brazilian soccer player who also has an Italian passport. He was mainly used in attacking midfield.
Career
His home club is São Paulo FC in Brazil . From there he moved to Penn State University in the USA and played on the university team. He came to Austria via the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in 2004 , where he was under contract with Austria Salzburg for one season . In the 2004/05 season Villar came to 21 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga, in which he was able to score two goals.
After a season in South Korea with the Chunnam Dragons , he was finally signed by 1. FC Kaiserslautern . In the 2nd Bundesliga , however, he could not prevail and only came to ten league games and one appearance in the DFB Cup against FC Bayern Munich . He also played three games for the second team of the Palatinate in the Regionalliga Süd .
For the 2007/08 season, Villar then moved to SpVgg Unterhaching . With the Munich suburbs he received a two-year contract and qualified as a service provider with his team for the newly created 3rd division , to which he was able to contribute seven goals. His contract was not renewed at the end of the 2008-09 season.
After six months without a club, Villar signed with the Greek second division club AS Rhodos . For the 2010/11 season Ricardo Villar returned to Unterhaching, from where he moved to FC Dallas in Major League Soccer after ten league games in January 2011 . There he ended his active career almost two years later.
