Riccardo Jagmetti (born June 18, 1929 in Zurich ) is a Swiss lawyer and politician .

education and profession

In the period from 1948 to 1956 he completed his law studies in Zurich, Geneva and Paris. During this time he joined the Swiss Zofinger Association . In 1956 he received the title of Dr. iur. at the University of Zurich . He then worked as an auditor and trainee at the district court in Zurich until 1958 and then as a lawyer . In 1960 he became a lecturer in law at the ETH Zurich . From 1962 he worked there as an assistant professor and from 1966 to 1995 as a full professor of law .

He is the brother of Carlo Jagmetti .

Political career

For the FDP he was in the Zurich Cantonal Council from 1971 to 1983 . From 1983 to 1995 he was a representative of the Canton of Zurich in the Swiss Council of States . He was President of the Council of States from 1993 to 1994.
