Career

In the period after 1945 and before the founding of the Bundesliga in 1963, he was one of the most famous defensive players at Werder Bremen in the former league. In 1942 he came to Bremen as a flak soldier and was used in the 1st team of SV Werder. He was nicknamed “Sense” and was one of the club's honorary captains alongside Arnold “Pico” Schütz , Horst-Dieter Höttges , Dieter Eilts , Marco Bode , Dieter Burdenski , Frank Baumann and Clemens Fritz . He played 832 games. for SV Werder. On July 29, 1952, he signed a contract with SV Werder. He played for Werder Bremen until 1958.

Ackerschott later served the association for a long time in board positions, u. a. as league chairman. In the 1968/69 season he represented the then Werder coach Fritz Langner on the 10th, 12th and 13th matchdays because he was ill. On matchday 34, he headed Werder again in the second half, as Langner was on the road due to contract negotiations with TSV 1860 Munich.

Individual evidence

  2. On December 6, 1971, Ackerschott was still referred to in the kicker sports magazine as an "old league player" (page 33). If the games in this team are included, then the number 832 can be correct. The time between 1942 and 1958 would not be enough for this.
