Richard Altvater (born April 7, 1923 in Heilbronn ; † February 27, 2001 ) in Nuremberg was a German building contractor and sports official.

Career

Altvater founded the construction company Eiwobau in Nuremberg in 1964 together with Gustl Drechsler and Ottmar Sulzer. Initially, the business area was limited to the construction of terraced and semi-detached houses in Nuremberg. Multi-storey buildings were added from around 1970. Commercial properties have also been built since the early 1980s. The company expanded to Frankfurt am Main, Munich, Cologne and, after 1990, to Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz. According to the company, around eight percent of the housing stock in the Nuremberg area comes from Eiwobau.

In addition to his professional activity, grandfather was a hobby pilot. He was president of the Nuremberg Aeroclub and in 1973 initiated the merger with two other Nuremberg flying clubs to form the Nuremberg Air Sports Association , the largest flying club in Europe. In March 1977 he was elected President of the Bavarian Air Sports Association.
