Richard Baneham

Richard Baneham (* 1974 in Tallaght ) is an Irish animator and visual effects supervisor .

Baneham came to Los Angeles in the early 1990s and started working as an animator on films such as The Space Giant and Cats & Dogs . He then worked on the animations for the two Lord of the Rings films The Two Towers and The Return of the King . With the company Rhythm & Hues was responsible for the representation of mass battles in The Chronicles of Narnia: The King of Narnia .

His biggest success to date is James Cameron's Avatar - The Journey to Pandora , for which he received an Oscar for Best Visual Effects , a British Academy Film Award and a VES Award in 2010 with Joe Letteri , Stephen Rosenbaum and Andrew R. Jones .
