Joe Letteri
Joseph Letteri , ONZM (* 1957 in Aliquippa , Pennsylvania , USA ) is an American specialist in visual effects and a four-time Oscar winner.
Life
Letteri, a graduate of Center High School (Pennsylvania) and the University of California , initially worked at Industrial Light & Magic ( ILM ) before moving to Weta Digital in the early 2000s and since then with the successful blockbuster series The Lord of the Rings and The hobbit was responsible for the visual effects.

Awards (selection)
At the Oscar awards in 2003 , 2004 and 2006 , Letteri was awarded three Oscars . In 2004 it was also honored with an Oscar for technical merit . At the 2005 Academy Awards , there was only one nomination. He won an Oscar for Avatar in 2010 (together with Stephen Rosenbaum , Richard Baneham and Andrew R. Jones ). Four more nominations followed from 2012.
