Stephen Rosenbaum (born October 26, 1965 in Tacoma , Washington ) is an American specialist in visual effects and a two-time Oscar winner .

Life

Rosenbaum initially worked as a computer graphic artist for various Hollywood films, including technically demanding ones such as Back to the Future II , Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park . For his work on the 1994 film Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks , he won an Oscar and a BAFTA Award for Best Special Effects at the 1995 Academy Awards, along with Ken Ralston , George Murphy and Allen Hall .

Rosenbaum's first film in the visual effects department was the comedy Michael with John Travolta in the lead role in 1996 . In 1998 he won an International Monitor Award for Contact and was nominated for a Saturn Award for the best special effects . He also received a Saturn Award nomination for X-Men 2 in 2004 .

In James Cameron's 3D blockbuster Avatar - Departure for Pandora , he won his second Oscar and another BAFTA award for the best visual effects in 2010 together with Joe Letteri , Richard Baneham and Andy Jones.

The films Abyss , Terminator 2 , Death Becomes Her and Jurassic Park , where he staff of Computer Graphics was Department and the storm of Wolfgang Petersen , in which he called Additional visual effects supervisor worked, won Oscars for Best Visual Effects .
