Richard C. Bozzuto

Richard C. Bozzuto (* in Waterbury , Connecticut ) is an American politician ( Republican Party ).

Life

Bozzuto was born in Waterbury, one of nine children of Italian immigrants. He attended the American International College in Springfield , Massachusetts , where he received a Bachelor of Science (BS) in business administration . During his service in the United States Army , he was used in the Korean War . In 1962 he founded the insurance agency Bozzuto Associates, Inc. in Waterbury.

Bozzuto was first elected to the Connecticut Senate for the 32nd District in 1972 and was a member of this for eight years. Two of them, 1979 and 1980, as opposition leaders ("minority leaders"). He was also a member of the Watertown Town Council for four years . In 1980 he took part in the Republican primary for a nomination for a seat in the United States Senate , but was defeated by James L. Buckley . Two years later, in 1982, he again took part in a Republican primary, this time to nominate the party's candidate for the election of Connecticut's governor . This time too, Bozzuto could not prevail against his internal party rival, so that Lewis B. Rome finally ran for the gubernatorial election. For the next few years, Bozzuto was active in party work and planned election campaigns for Republican candidates in Connecticut. In 1986 he tried again to be nominated for the Republican candidate in the upcoming gubernatorial election. His competitors were Julie Belaga and Gerald Labriola . Belaga finally received the nomination.

From 2007 to 2012 Bozzuto was a member of the State Elections Commission , which is responsible for ensuring that Connecticut's elections are properly observed.

Bozzuto is married and has four children.
