Richard C. Village
Richard Carl Dorf (born December 27, 1933 in Bronx , New York City ) is an American engineering scientist , university professor and specialist author.
Life
He received a bachelor's degree from Clarkson University , a master's degree from the University of Colorado , and a Ph.D. he received from the US Naval Postgraduate School .
Dorf has been named a Lifelong Fellow of the IEEE for contributions to engineering education and control theory , and is a member of the American Society for Engineering Education .
Professor Dorf researches and teaches control loops , robotics , energy systems, technology management , entrepreneurship , innovation management , non-profit management, young entrepreneur management, risk capital management, and technology policy . He is also a consultant in engineering business formation, and also conducts courses in this field.
Dorf is also a distinguished author and editor. He has authored 30 books, including some standard engineering manuals and textbooks. His most recently published book is Technology Ventures: From Ideas to Enterprise and was co-authored with Professor Thomas Byers of Stanford University ; This textbook examines the global phenomenon of “technological entrepreneurship” for the first time.
