Richard Calini (born February 9, 1882 in Zurich ; † April 19, 1943 in Basel ) was a Swiss architect and politician .

Calini grew up as the son of an Italian mason foreman and a Swiss woman in Zurich. He studied architecture at the Technikum Winterthur and the Technical University of Karlsruhe . At first he worked at Pflegehard and Haefeli in Zurich, from 1909 in Basel , where he joined the architecture firm von Widmer und Erlacher . His office Widmer, Erlacher, Calini built some representative buildings in Basel, such as the new building for the sample fair and the radio studio.

He was a member of the Free Democratic Party and was a member of the Basel Grand Council from 1920–1923, 1929–1935 and 1938–1941 . 1923–1925 he was a member of the Basel government council and headed the building department.
