Richard Dübell (born October 5, 1962 in Landshut ) is a German writer and graphic artist .

Life and work

Richard Dübell is known as a writer of historical novels . After the success of his first books at Nymphenburger Verlag / Langen-Müller-Herbig , Dübell switched to the publishing house Lübbe, which publishes its hardcover volumes in the Ehrenwirth house and its paperbacks at Bastei-Lübbe . In addition to his writing activities, he runs a writing workshop , which he offers in evening courses as well as weekend seminars and vacation trips, and works as a cartoonist and graphic artist.

Richard Dübell is one of the godparents of the art.131 project of the Bavarian Ministry of Culture, which has committed itself to promoting art and culture in Bavarian schools. Dübell is involved in two projects: a writing workshop and a community novel project. In addition, he is committed to introducing the craft of writing and the culture of reading to young people, especially in secondary schools .

For his readings together with the DJ and sound engineer Maik O. Klein, he coined the term “medial reading”, in which music and sound effects are mixed with the text read.

The city of Landshut awarded Richard Dübell the Culture Promotion Prize in 2003 and dedicated the tenth episode of the Landshut Literature Days 2006 to “their” local author.

Dübell's novel “ The Cloth Merchant ” is currently being adapted into a script that the author himself is working on. His novel " The Millennium Emperor " takes up the thesis of the invented Middle Ages . In “ The Devil's Bible ” he dedicates himself to one of the most enigmatic artefacts in medieval church history, the Codex Gigas . The entire Devil's Bible trilogy, “ The Devil's Bible ”, “ The Guardians of the Devil's Bible ” and “ The Heiress of the Devil's Bible ” have been translated into 14 languages ​​worldwide, there are ideas for a board game and a film adaptation.

In 2009 he took part in the Landshut wedding for the first time.

In 2012 he contributed with volume 2659, Toufec , a guest novel to the booklet series Perry Rhodan .
