Richard Dürr (born December 1, 1938 in St. Gallen ; † May 29, 2014 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss football player .

career

Dürr began his career as a footballer at SC Brühl St. Gallen , whose president was his father. After two years with the Young Boys and the championship title in 1960, he moved to Lausanne and finally to Neuchâtel Xamax . In 1965 Dürr opened a sports bar near the Lausanne train station, which was very popular.

Between 1962 and 1968, Dürr was one of the pillars of the Swiss national football team in 29 international matches . He participated in the World Championships in Chile in 1962 and England in 1966 . At Lausanne-Sports he was a penalty specialist and captain for a long time. With the Vaudois he was once champion and twice cup winner. His personal highlight was the quarter-finals in the Cup Winner's Cup in 1965 away against West Ham United . Dürr succumbed to cancer in 2014 at the age of 75.
