Richard Dembo

Richard Dembo (born May 24, 1948 in Paris , † November 11, 2004 ibid) was a French film director and screenwriter.

life and work

Dembo became known worldwide with his first film: La diagonale du fou (German: duel without mercy or dangerous moves ). This 1984 film received an Oscar for best foreign language film. Michel Piccoli played an Orthodox Soviet citizen in this film . It's about a game of chess between him and a dissident in exile.

In 1993 Dembo directed the film L'instinct de l'ange with Hélène Vincent , Jean-Louis Trintignant , François Cluzet and Lambert Wilson . After he hadn't made any new films for a long time, he planned a new film: La maison de Nina . However, he could no longer carry out this plan. Dembo died on November 11, 2004 in Paris.
