Richard Disch

Richard Disch (born April 21, 1887 in Rees , † June 25, 1949 in Steele ) was a German local politician and lawyer .

Life and work

Richard Disch was born the son of a forwarding agent. He attended the Thomaeum grammar school in Kempen and graduated from high school. He then studied law. In 1910 Disch worked as a court trainee.

During the First World War he was a company or battalion commander. Then Disch took the exam as a court assessor in 1919. From September 1st of that year he worked as a legal assistant at the city administration of Emmerich am Rhein .

On September 3, 1920 Richard Disch was elected deputy of the city of Emmerich and was introduced to his office on November 13 of that year.

Disch was elected mayor of the then city of Steele on January 5, 1923 for twelve years. He replaced his predecessor Bernhard Schulz . After the incorporation of Steele into the city of Essen in 1929, he was initially head of the Steele administrative office until he retired on March 31, 1934. But he continued to work as a lawyer and notary in Steele. After his death in 1949 he was buried in the Laurentiusfriedhof in Steele.

In 1952, Dischstrasse in Steele was named after Richard Disch, the 14th and last mayor of Steele.
