Bernhard Schulz (born March 28, 1861 in Bochum ; † January 19, 1933 in Essen - Rüttenscheid ) was a German architect , local politician , teacher and lawyer .

Life and work

Bernhard Schulz was the son of a rope merchant and attended secondary school in Bochum until he graduated from high school .

From 1879 to 1883 he worked as a volunteer at the Bochum municipal building authority . He then studied construction at the Technical University (Berlin-) Charlottenburg until 1887 . Schulz then worked as a freelance architect between 1887 and 1890 and as a city ​​architect in Gelsenkirchen from 1890 to 1899 .

On February 18, 1899, he replaced Wilhelm Farwick as mayor of the city of Steele (since 1929 part of Essen ). Schulz held the office until February 18, 1923.

In addition, Schulz was from 1899 to 1929 district attorney at the jury in Steele. Furthermore, he was a teacher and head of the civil service school in the Essen district for many years .

Bernhard Schulz died in Essen-Rüttenscheid and was buried in the south-west cemetery in Essen .
