Richard Gottehrer

Richard Gottehrer is an American songwriter , record producer and founder of Sire Records .

Life

Gottehrer began his career in the music industry in the 1960s. Under the band name The Strangeloves , he released the single I Want Candy with Jerry Goldstein and Bob Feldman in 1965 , which reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 . To FGG Productions partnered (Feldman-Goldstein-Gottehrer) they produced among other things the debut albums by Blondie and the Go-Go's .

In 1966 Gottehrer founded the record label Sire Records together with Seymour Stein , with which Madonna and Depeche Mode, among others , received their first record deals. He was also personally active as a producer, the artists he produced included Joan Armatrading , Blondie , the Climax Blues Band , Dr. Feelgood and Link Wray . On some of his productions he played keyboards , percussion or sang backing vocals .
