The Strangeloves presented themselves in public as a band from Australia , but were the project of US songwriters and music producers Bob Feldman, Jerry Goldstein and Richard Gottehrer . The group is best known for their hit I Want Candy , which has been widely covered .

Band history

Feldman, Goldstein and Gottehrer worked together successfully under the name FGG Productions in the 1960s, including writing for Pat Boone and Bobby Vee . They also wrote and produced the Angels' number one hit, My Boyfriend's Back , in 1963 . For their own band they pretended to be brothers named Giles, Miles and Niles Strange, who grew up on a sheep farm in Australia. They hired musicians working in their studio for live performances. In 1965 they released their only album, the single of the same name, I Want Candy , reached number 11 on the US charts. With Nighttime and Cara-Lin further Top reach 40 successes, the following singles did not reach the Top 100 more.

At the end of the 1960s, the members turned back to their production activities , Goldstein produced War and Gottehrer, among other things, Blondie .
