Richard Gregg
Richard Bartlett Gregg (born February 14, 1885 in Colorado Springs , El Paso County , Colorado , † January 27, 1974 in Eugene , Lane County , Oregon ) was an American social philosopher .
Life
Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi , Richard Gregg was the first American to develop a substantial theory of nonviolent resistance that influenced Martin Luther King , among others . Richard Gregg also became known for his commitment to a lifestyle that is characterized by " voluntary simplicity ".
