Richard Gregson

Richard Gregson (born May 5, 1930 in India , † August 21, 2019 in Wye Valley , Wales ) was a British film producer and screenwriter .

Life

Gregson worked as a literary and theater agent after graduating from high school . Later he was the head of the US branch of the British talent agency London International Artists. After his release in 1968, he started his own production company, Wildwood Enterprises. Robert Redford was involved as a partner from the start.

As a screenwriter he was involved in the development of the screenplay for the film Angry Silence . For this he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Original Screenplay in 1961 together with his brother Michael Craig and Bryan Forbes . In the late 1970s he wrote around two dozen episodes for The Foundation series . His last publicly visible work as a screenwriter was with the 1979 television film Jennifer: A Woman's Story .

In 1969 he appeared as a producer for the first and last time with the film Schussfahrt ( Downhill Racer ). The film was the first production by Wildwood Enterprises. Robert Redford also took on a leading role as an actor. The director took Michael Ritchie .

In the late 1960s he married actress Natalie Wood . Their daughter Natasha Gregson Wagner was born in 1970. Wood and Gregson divorced in 1972.

He died on August 21, 2019 at the age of 89 in Wye Valley, Wales.
