Richard Head, 2nd Viscount Head

Richard Antony Head, 2nd Viscount Head (born February 27, 1937 ) is a British peer , former horse trainer, farmer and politician .

life and career

Head was born on February 27, 1937 to Antony Head, 1st Viscount Head , and Lady Dorothea Louise Ashley-Cooper († 1987).

From 1957 to 1966 he served in the Life Guards . He retired with the rank of captain . He trained racehorses. In this area he was active from 1968 to 1983. He is also active in agriculture.

Head is currently not a member of the Hereditary Peerage Association .

Membership in the House of Lords

After the death of his father in March 1983 he inherited the title of Viscount Head and the then associated seat in the House of Lords . There he sat as a crossbencher . His inaugural address was on July 15, 1987, on the Sunday Sports Bill , which he addressed again in November. It wasn't until 1990, three years later, that he spoke up again. He spoke about the enforcement of speed limits on highways. The following year he spoke up on the subject of the horse racing industry. In October 1993, Head spoke about Stonehenge and the A.303 . Then he didn't speak there for a few years. The last request to speak was made on June 10, 1999 on the totaliser .

He lost his seat through the House of Lords Act 1999 . He did not run for one of the remaining seats. He is currently not listed in the Register of Hereditary Peers , which are available for by-election (as of May 2012).

family

Head married Alicia Brigid Salmond, daughter of Julian John William Salmond, on May 11, 1974. They have three children together, including two sons and a daughter.

Head mentions shooting and golf as hobbies .
