history
Around 1880, Johann Huber from Hägglingen began growing fruit trees in a nursery. At the turn of the century he made a name for himself as a fruit tree specialist. When Johann Huber died in 1942, Richard Huber sen. the fruit nursery continues.
As the third member of the group, Richard Huber jun. (1927–2013) worked as a tree nursery worker in a tree nursery. In 1948 he continued to run the fruit tree nursery.
In the 1950s he had to decide whether he wanted to continue the business with fruit trees or roses. In the mid-1950s, he had clearly chosen roses . In 1960 Richard Huber junior began to use primitive means to create a show garden, which at that time had an area of 10 a. The show garden has been expanded again and again and now has an area of more than one hectare.
Show garden
The rose garden covers an area of 25,000 m². The roses there bloom from early June to late September.
There are two types of roses in the rose garden:
- Roses that bloom more often: Hybrid tea roses, floribunda roses, ground cover roses and the more frequently blooming climbing and shrub roses
- Roses that bloom once: climbing and shrub roses and the so-called historical roses
