Richard III (Normandy)

Richard III (* around 1001; † August 6, 1027 ) was the third Duke of Normandy .

He was the son of Duke Richard II , whom he succeeded in 1026. He died shortly after the accession to the throne under mysterious circumstances and was unable to influence the fate of Normandy. His successor was his younger brother Robert I the Magnificent . He was engaged to Adela of France, daughter of King Robert II of France . After Richard's death, she married Count Baldwin V of Flanders .
