Richard Jones (composer)

Richard Jones (* late 17th century; † January 20, 1744 in London ) was an English violinist and composer of the late Baroque.

Life

According to the music critic John Hawkins, Richard Jones was a member of the orchestra at the Theater Royal Drury Lane in London before 1723 . From 1730 he took over the position of concert master in succession to Giovanni Stefano Carbonelli . As a violinist, he was known for his Italian style ornamentation technique and his double fingering technique. He worked as a violin teacher, the composer Michael Christian Festing is counted among his students.
