Richard Lyle

Richard Lyle (born June 12, 1950 in Bothwellhaugh, Lanarkshire ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party (SNP).

Life

Lyle attended Lawmuir School and Bellshill Academy . He joined the SNP in 1966 and has been a councilor for Motherwell District since 1976 . He worked in lending for the Royal Bank of Scotland .

Political career

For the Scottish general election in 2011 Lyle ran for the newly created constituency of Uddingston and Bellshill , but could not prevail against Michael McMahon of the Labor Party . On the basis of the election result, he moved into Parliament via the SNP's regional electoral list for the electoral region of Central Scotland . In the following elections in 2016 , Lyle won a majority vote and thus the constituency mandate.
