Richard Montanari

Richard Montanari (born December 6, 1952 in Cleveland , Ohio ) is an American writer, screenwriter and essayist. Several of his works have now appeared in Germany , Austria and Switzerland . His last book, published in German in 2016, is called Tanz der Toten and is the eighth part of the crime series with Byrne and Balzano.

Life

Montanari ended his academic career without a degree and traveled through Europe before, after living in London for a while , returned to the USA and entered the family business. He worked for some time as a freelance journalist, including for the Chicago Tribune , until he finally published his first book, Deviant Way, with Simon & Schuster . After the success of this novel, for which he received the Online Mystery Award in 1996, he published other crime novels. His first three crime novels, of which only the second was published by Heyne Verlag as a German-language edition with the title Violett ist die Nacht , are set in Cleveland; The protagonist is the detective Jack Paris. The following seven crime novels are set in Philadelphia , the main characters are the investigator couple Kevin Byrne and Jessica Balzano, both detectives of the Philadelphia Homicide Squad.
