From 2002 to 2008 he taught painting as an assistant professor to Jerry Zeniuk at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . In 2005 he received the Bavarian Art Prize. Schur's works have been shown in galleries and museums since 1998.
plant
Schur is known for complex abstract paintings that combine "visual investigations and art historical references with an element of playfulness". His works have been described as metaphorical grids , which contain clear blocks of color and are reminiscent of the geometric precision of Piet Mondrian .
Initially, Schur works with studies that allow his motifs to develop over a longer period of time, experimenting with the choice of colors as part of an intuitive process. The motifs are then transferred to larger canvases on which the artist uses the formal language of hard-edge painting in order to “gain a feeling of clarity in the interplay of colors”. His art is also about bringing together the "light, spirit and atmosphere" of different places around the world that have inspired him.
