Richard Sturge Grant

Richard Sturge Grant (born November 3, 1945 ) is a New Zealand diplomat .

Life

He studied at Victoria University from 1964 to 1967 . From 1968 to 1970 he continued his education at the University of Clermont-Ferrand , where he received his doctorate. As early as 1968 he joined the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and worked in the Defense Department. From 1970 to 1971 he worked in the Pacific Department, followed by a deployment in Paris from 1971 to 1975 . 1975 to 1978 followed a job in the economic department. In 1978 he went to Vienna , where he worked until 1981. From 1982 to 1985 he served as Consul General in Nouméa , New Caledonia . In 1985 he became director of the European department, where he remained until 1986. Between 1987 and 1989 he was Consul General in Sydney , Australia .

In 1990 he became ambassador to Germany . He held this position until 1994 and was then director of the Australian division from 1994 to 1997. In 1997 he went to London as New Zealand High Commissioner for the United Kingdom . In 1999 he moved to Paris as ambassador in France . In 2002, he became Deputy Secretary in the New Zealand Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, with responsibility for Europe, Australia and trade policy. On August 26, 2004, he was then New Zealand High Commissioner in Singapore .
