Richard Tayler
Richard John "Dick" Tayler (born August 12, 1948 in Timaru ) is a former New Zealand long-distance runner .
In 1970 he was tenth over 1500 m and 5000 m at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh .
At the Olympic Games in 1972 he was eliminated over 5000 m in the preliminary run. In 1973 he won bronze with the New Zealand team in twelfth place at the World Cross Country Championships in Waregem .
He celebrated his biggest success in the following year, when he at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games over 10,000m won. The following year he had to end his career because of arthritis .
Once he was New Zealand champion in 1500 m (1970), 10,000 m (1974), in cross-country run (1973) and twice in 15 km road run (1970, 1971). In 1974 he was US indoor champion over three miles . In 1970, 1971 and 1972 he won the Southland Marathon.
Richard Tayler was trained by Arthur Lydiard .
