Richard Thomsen

Richard Thomsen (born October 25, 1872 in Struckum ; † December 14, 1932 there ) was a German politician ( DNVP ).

Live and act

After attending primary school , Thomsen received private lessons. Later he was trained at the agricultural school in Flensburg . This theoretical instruction was supplemented by practical instruction in agriculture. He later ran his father's farm for a time before he was sent to the Agricultural University in Berlin and the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin to study economics . After the agricultural diploma exam he was employed as the department head for horse breeding in the province of Brandenburg.

In 1903 Thomsen was appointed to the Prussian Ministry of Agriculture, Domains and Forests as an unskilled worker . In 1907 he was appointed to the government council and state economics council and was given the regular agricultural and technical assistant position in the same ministry. In 1912 he was promoted to the Secret Government Council and Lecturing Council, and in 1916 he was promoted to the Secret Upper Government Council . After his retirement on May 1, 1920, he devoted himself to running his family's farm.

Thomsen was married to Emma Arnold, their son was the diplomat Henning Thomsen .

From 1914 to 1918 Thomsen took part in the First World War as a battery leader and division leader in the Bavarian 9th Field Artillery Regiment .

Thomsen was politically active in the German National People's Party (DNVP) since 1919 . From March 1921 to May 1928 he was a member of his party in constituency 13 (Schleswig-Holstein) in the Reichstag . He also took over the chairmanship of the agricultural imperial committee of the DNVP.
