Richard Vollrath

Richard Vollrath (born December 16, 1848 in Sonneberg , † November 2, 1934 in Heppenheim (Bergstrasse) ) was a German cellist .

Life

Richard Vollrath, son of a musician, learned to play the cello in Rudolstadt and studied with Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Grützmacher from 1865 to 1867 . After completing his military service in Koblenz , Vollrath was a member of an orchestra in Ems from 1871 to 1873 , after which he worked in Dresden , where he again studied with Grützmacher. Later he was first cellist in the Wiesbaden orchestra for two years and from September 1876 in the Mainz city orchestra . Vollrath also appeared as a soloist and gave cello lessons; Among other things, he frequented the Zuckmayer house and taught Carl Zuckmayer the cello.
