Sir Richard Worsley, 7th Baronet (born February 13, 1751 in Appuldurcombe House , Isle of Wight , † August 8, 1805 ) was a British politician and antique collector .

He was the son of Sir Thomas Worsley, 6th Baronet (1728–1768), and Lady Elizabeth Boyle (1731–1800), daughter of the 5th Earl of Cork and Orrery . In 1768, on the death of his father, he inherited his title of baronet , of Apuldercombe in the County of Southampton and the family seat of Appuldurcombe House near Wroxall on the Isle of Wight.

He attended Winchester College and studied from 1768 at Corpus Christi College of the University of Cambridge . After completing his studies, he was elected several times as a member of the House of Commons . From 1774 to 1784 he was Member of Parliament for the Newport constituency and 1790 to 1793 and 1796 to 1801 for Newtown . As an antique collector, he became a Fellow of both the Society of Antiquaries of London and the Royal Society in 1778 . From 1779 to 1782 he held the office of Comptroller of the Household , in 1780 he became a member of the Privy Council . From 1780 to 1782 he was Governor of the Isle of Wight.

In 1775 he married Seymour Dorothy Fleming , daughter of Sir John Fleming, 1st Baronet . With her he had a son, Robert Edwin Worsley (1776–1795). In 1781 his wife gave birth to a daughter, Jane Seymour Worsley, who was apparently fathered by Maurice George Bisset, a close friend and neighbor of Worsley. Worsley adopted her as his own child to avoid scandal. After his wife moved out of his home, he led an unsuccessful legal battle against her in 1782, which made the scandal public and ruined his reputation.

Since his only son died childless before him, his title of nobility fell on his death in 1805 to his fourth cousin Henry Worsley-Holmes (1756-1811) as the 8th baronet.
