Ricochet (country band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ricochet is an American country band.

Band history

In the early 1990s Jeff and Junior Bryant, two sons of country guitarist Jimmy Bryant, were together in the band Lariat . Shortly after Heath Wright joined the band as a singer, the band broke up in 1993 and the three decided to continue under the name Ricochet . With Greg Cook, Teddy Carr and Eddie Kilgallon, the band grew to six members and began touring the southern and western United States.

Through her manager’s relationship, they signed a recording deal with Columbia Records in 1995 and recorded their debut album, named after the band. They also toured as the opening act for Merle Haggard , Doug Stone and Charlie Daniels . The album was released in the spring of 1996, although it only reached number 14 in the country charts, it stayed there for over a year and achieved gold status . It was also able to place itself in the official album charts . The singles contributed to the success: Daddy's Money was a number one hit in the Hot Country Songs , What Do I Know and Love Is Stronger Than Pride reached the top 10 and Ease My Troubled Mind reached number 20.

In June 1997 the next album, Blink of an Eye , was released, but it did not come close to the first success. The three single releases also did not reach any of the top chart positions. In the following year they released more singles with moderate success, the planned album What a Ride did not materialize, also because two members left the band with Jeff Bryant, who was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome , and Teddy Carr. It was not until 2000 that Columbia released the third album What You Leave Behind . It only reached number 71 among the country albums for one week and brought two smaller hits.

After that, the collaboration with the label ended and other members left the band. Further publications followed and Ricochet continued touring with new musicians around the remaining founder Heath Wright, but they have not been in the charts since then.
