Ridge is a small village within the Civil parish Arne , on the Isle of Purbeck peninsula in the county of Dorset in the south of England .
Ridge is about 1 kilometer southeast of Wareham and about 4 kilometers west of Arne. It is on the south bank of the River Frome.
A jetty on the Frome Riverbank at Ridge was once an important trading point for Purbeck Ball Clay . The clay was brought to the shipyard by the Furzebrook narrow-gauge railway and loaded onto barges for the journey to Poole Harbor . The railway has now been given up and the shipyard has been transformed into a marina.
