Ridgeville is a city in Etowah County in the US state of Alabama . The 2000 census found a population of 158.

Demographics

As of the 2000 census , Ridgeville had 158 people in 64 households; 44 families were counted. The population density was 80 inhabitants per km². 75 residential units were recorded. The racial population was made up of 79% African American and 19% white; 2% said they came from more than one ethnic group.

Of the 64 households, 22% had children or young people living with them. 33% were married couples living together, 33% were a single mother, and 30% were non-families. 30% were single households and 8% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 2.93.

The population was divided into 22% under 18 years of age, 7% from 18 to 24 years of age, 25% from 25 to 44 years of age, 30% from 45 to 64 years of age and 17% from 65 years of age or older. The mean age ( median ) was 43 years. Statistically, there were 119 males for every 100 females and 100 males for every 100 adult women aged 18 and over.
