The rock is a granite gneiss from Scandinavia .
history
The stone was deposited during the Vistula Ice Age. He has been known since at least 1848. In that year the road from Waren (Müritz) to Malchow was built and the stone was needed as a roller. However, the attempt to carve it open and transport it failed. The nine chisel holes made for this purpose, which are perpendicular to the texture, are still clearly visible today.
The local poet Friedrich Kähler composed the legend from this that a giant threw the stone on the bank of the Müritz. The (allegedly) ten holes are his fingerprints.
