Until the Baltic states joined the EU , studying at the RGSL was reserved for lawyers from the Baltic States; since 2004 it has been open internationally. Since 2005 the RGSL has been an independent institution within the University of Latvia (LU, Latvijas Universitāte ). The Soros Foundation remained a shareholder.
campus
The RGSL is located on Alberta iela, one of the most important European streets for Art Nouveau architecture . The premises, donated by the Soros Foundation in 1998 , were officially inaugurated in 2001 by Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and the President of the Republic of Latvia, Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga . The RGSL shares the courtyard, auditorium and library with the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga (SSE Riga).
